Local Business Maidenhead Aquatics in Leicester Donate to School
Our pupils were delighted to receive a fish tank, donated by Maidenhead Aquatics in Leicester. The first fish (Striped Danio) entered their new home on February 1.
This is part of an educational scheme called Fishkeeper Fry. It aligns with the curriculum and teaches children everything from setting up the aquarium and testing water through to how fish breathe, digest food and breed.
Stephen Deadman, Head Teacher at The Children’s Hospital School said: “The children and teachers are delighted with this donation. It has pride of place in their common room and receives a lot of attention.
“The educational value reaches from art to science - two of our key areas. It’s proven incredibly engaging while subtly providing therapeutic value, as the children who attend our hospital school aren’t yet well enough to return to mainstream education. We aim to prevent them from falling behind while accommodating their medical needs during lessons.”
